These are the gears I use for my videos and photography.
This the camera that I use to shot my vlogs, videos and photography. I love the fact that it has a flip screen but the only problem is that I can’t see the screen when I’m mounting my microphone on it.
This camera used to me my main vlogging camera but it didn’t have a flip screen so I ended up getting the A6400 for vlogging and turned this one into my second camera where I attach my Sony 85mm lens at all time.
I use this drone for all my videos with aerial shots. I’ve mostly used this for videos. This drone been great but since I’m always trying to travel lighter I’m always looking for the smallest equipment I can bring with me everywhere.
I use this lens 90% of the time. This is the lens I use the most by far. I’m a huge fan of wide angle videos and photography and I think that it give me the versatility to zoom in post. Definitely my go to lens and the F1.4 is outstanding.
That use to go my go to lens for closeup but I haven’t used it as much since I got my 85mm. I’m keeping this one mostly for short-film. I think that 30mm lenses are great for shooting movie scenes.
This was an expensive light to buy but since I got it I can now say that the cost justified the result. It’s a great light for shooting youtube videos and I’ve used it for a short-film as well..
I walked into a camera store and asked for a light tripod that can fit in a backpack and they gave me this. I still feel that its heavier than I’d like but I guess this is the fine balance between having a cheap quality product that might fall easily and break my camera and having something sturdy that is resistant.
If you’re using a Macbook or iMac I’d recommend to use hard drive with thunderbolt cables. It will make a huge difference during file transfers. I have about 4-5 of these and I’m really satisfied with this product. It also comes with the rubber protection which protects it from impact. I lost a lot of files in the past because my hard drive fell of the stairs so I find that having an extra layer of protection is a necessity.
I recently got my hand on this one as an alternative gimbal when I travel. Gimbal are still pretty big and cumbersome to travel with and I wanted something that I could literally put in my pocket. I really wish I could hook this device to my main camera instead of my Iphone.
When I’m in Toronto I now edit all my video on my iMac. I just added additional ram to boost the memory. It improved the performance a bit but I still feel that I haven’t figured out the perfect setup for editing my video without seeing the computer lagging. This is unfortunate because this is what make the difference between having the desire to add some cool transition and effect and feeling discouraged because of the performance and slowness and deciding to give up on that extra edit in order to deliver the video on schedule.
I used to travel with a backpack that couldn’t carry my tripod in the side pockets and it became so painful that I decided to get this backpack which solved all my headache. This is an amazing backpack for content creators and travellers alike.
I’ve been using this lens for capturing genuine moment and interaction from locals during my travel. I like that I don’t need to get to close to get the shot. It’s also a great lens for doing portrait photography.
I used to use Rode microphones until I discovered this one in one of iJustine videos. I like the fact that I don’t have to worry about having batteries or turning on the microphone. It records as soon as you hook it to the horse shoe. Be careful when you store it in your bag because it break pretty easily. I’m at my second microphone already.
You may not have notice but I have a lot of shot made using only this phone. They say that the best camera is the one that you have on and this is true. It’s important to have a device that allow you to capture key moment while maintaining a pretty good quality. My only concern so far been the stabilization; I’ve notice some weird shakes in my post footage but other than that it’s been great.
I ditched the Gorilla Pod for this one. I first saw it in a video of Hey Claire and I really like this mini tripod. It’s sturdy and I don’t have to worry about the gimbal falling off tables and breaking my camera. It doesn’t have the flexibility of a gorilla pod where I can attach it pretty much anywhere, but its smaller, lighter, sturdy and perfect for vlogging.
This is the mic I use for all my voiceover in my video. I originally bought it to record my podcast but I’ve been using Anchor to create my podcast which only requires a phone. It’s a great microphones and it does make the difference in the quality of the sound when I record with it.
Most of my early youtube videos were edited on this laptop. I’ve had it since 2015 and it’s been very reliable so far. My spec were already maxed out so I still don’t feel that its time for a new laptop. The one thing I’m missing is the Solid State Drive which can definitely help for editing videos. Although I figure out ways to improve the performance of Adobe on it; I feel that it wasn’t powerful enough for editing video on Premiere. When I edit when I travel I tend to switch to Final Cut Pro which do a better job in term of performance for editing videos on a mac.
